Piping Internship

This intensive study program is for the serious student of the bagpipe. Students can choose to attend one, two or all three twelve-week terms. It is designed as a personal growth program tailored to the specific needs of the individual. The College of Piping offers students a unique opportunity to enjoy learning, performance, travel, competition and the interaction of all Celtic disciplines in a purpose-designed, world-class facility.

The College encourages students to get involved in community based activities that strive to build team spirit while working towards a common goal of excellence. Leadership skills will be developed through the student's involvement in the annual Summerside Highland Gathering and assistant teaching assignments. Furthermore, all piping immersion students are encouraged to study an introductory level course in Highland snare drumming for an appreciation of the ensemble of pipes and drums.

Students will be eligible to compete with The College Pipe Band as well as participate in regional solo piping events. An Atlantic Canada Pipe Band Association membership is required. As many as eight Highland Games are held throughout Eastern Canada during the competition season.

Dates

This Piping Internship program is offered in three month increments. Many students opt to devote a year to study for three semesters and a competition season. Exceptions can be made for students unable to attend during regularly scheduled terms.
